Bongeunsa Temple in Gangnam-gu

Gangnam style, the worldwide famous K-pop song, is a symbol of the modern and busy district of Seoul. Yet, not far from the long and large avenues of Gangnam, is a traditional temple where a high white Buddha stands, watching the city from the top of a hill.

The temple, named Bongeunsa,  is visited by old and young koreans, who still give an important place to religion and church. In this way, such temple in modern district appear in a constant change. Events are followed by ceremonies and families visits while tourists from all over the world walk around the area.

The picture above was taken in winter, when weather was still snowy and cold. Thousand of red lanterns were covering a courtyard and a hot soup and cakes were given for free to visitors.
